FHA inspections are a critical part of ensuring the house you built is safe and ready to continue being built. Without them, we’d live in a world without much trust for the houses that most Americans call their home. Still, we at Wharry Engineering understand that these inspections aren’t exactly something most construction companies look forward to; FHA inspections can take time to both schedule and perform, and in the meantime the house you just built is left unoccupied.

Systems Requirements

Every home needs proper electrical, plumbing, and other systems in order to truly be considered a home. Some of the systems tests you can expect during your FHA inspections are:

  • Electrical outlet testing
  • Confirmation of a functional, permanent heating system
  • Placement and functionality of smoke and CO2 detectors
  • Inspection of proper ventilation throughout the home

Structural Requirements

In the interests of safety for all residents and the longevity of the home, the FHA believes that it’s essential to have certain structural requirements met. For these requirements, your inspector will check into essential structural requirements that every homeowner should have guaranteed.

Here are some of the structural checks your inspector will likely perform:

  • Foundation and support beam checks for cracks and water intrusion
  • Damaged, cracked, or water-stained walls
  • A roof examination for waterproofing and structural security

Room-by-Room Inspections

Your inspector will also tour every room in the house to make sure the above requirements are fulfilled as well as new and/or unique requirements are fulfilled for the other rooms.
